Graduate Student Mentors
All students entering the program will be assigned to a Clinical
Psychology graduate student, who will serve as their mentor during the program.
Graduate student mentors will be available to assist students with their
academic work, research projects, clinical internships, etc. They will also be
available to talk to students about their interests in Psychology and their
career plans.
Students will do an internship(s) during their second year at one of a variety of community and private agencies with whom the program has realtionships.
Senior Research and Internship Requirements
All students are required to do at least one research or clinical internship
during their studies in order to provide them with exposure to the practical
applications of psychology and to assist them to begin exploring career
options. Students interested in research will have opportunities to work as
assistants with professors actively engaged in psychological research.
Students who prefer to have a work experience in a community agency, clinical
setting or other area where psychology and social action is being practiced
will be placed in a local organization which is affiliated with PGSP. In
their internships, students will be supervised on site and graded for their
performance.
They will also be supervised by a P3 professor who will help
them to integrate their practical experiences with the theoretical course
work. Internship sites may include community mental health centers, local
schools, community service agencies, non-profit organizations involved in
social action, etc.
